Penyanyi 90an: Fluktuasi Karier Musik The Cranberries

Fimela.com, Jakarta Begitu mendengar lagu The Cranberries, kamu tentu akan mengenali suara sang vokalis Dolores O'Riordan. Masih bertahan hingga saat ini, perjalan kuartet asal Irlandia ini penuh dinamika.

Perjalanan panjang dimulai sejak terbentuknya band tersebut pada 1989. Saat itu mereka masih bernama The Cranberry Saw Us, dengan vokalis awal Niall Quinn. Namun baru setahun berjalan, Niall memilih keluar.

Siapa sangka rontoknya formasi di awal berdiri justru berimbas positif bagi karier pemilik hits Zombie tersebut. Dolores O'Riordan masuk sebagai penyelamat dan jalan pembuka sukses The Cranberries.

Bersama Noel Hogan Mike Hogan Fergal Lawler grup ini merilis album pertama mereka, Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can't We? pada 1993. Genre Alternative Rock, atau beberapa orang menyebut Celtic Rock ampuh menjadi image mereka hingga sekarang.

Ngeband bareng rupanya The Cranberries juga pernah merasa stuck. Pada 2004 Dolores mulai sibuk bersolo karier, sementara gitaris dan songwriter mereka Noel Hogen membentuk project baru bernama Mono Band.

Namun ikatan antar personel membuat mereka tetap bertahan, dan memutuskan reuni pada 2009. Bahkan The Cranberries bakal merilis album teranyar, Something Else akhir April mendatang. The Cranberries belum tamat.
